What We Do

We empower adults with Down syndrome to enjoy vibrant social lives.

This is accomplished by hosting monthly pop-ups, special events, and summer overnight weekend trips that are specifically designed to build independence and meet the needs of the Down syndrome community.

Types of Events

Monthly Pop-Ups

These events take place in the NYC area on one Sunday per month. They are informal and advance registration is not required. Past pop-ups have included picnics, movie nights, crafting, bingo, bar trivia, walks in the park, birthday dinners, and more!

Suggestions for pop-ups are always welcome. Please reach out with ideas and we'll try to make them a reality!

Please note that participants are responsible for their own transportation to pop-ups, as well as any activity, food, or drink fees. We strive to host pop-ups that are free or inexpensive.

Special Events

Special events require advance registration. Past special events have included pool parties, Broadway show outings, Friendsgiving, fundraisers, and more!

Overnight Weekend Trips (aka Friends Trips)

Friends Trips are overnight summer getaways for our friends in the Northeast. We try to replicate the vibe of a weekend vacation with a large friend group as opposed to a formal camp program. These are the spot to make new friends, cut loose in a safe environment, and enjoy a break from your day-to-day life. Friends Trips require advance registration, including providing necessary paperwork.

Our Ethos & How We're Different

We are fiercely friendship-first and all are treated as equals

Our dynamic is peer to peer rather than camper / counselor or mentor / mentee. To cultivate this vibe we do small group hangs vs. the 1:1 pairings typically seen at other programs. (1:1 pairings are always available for those who prefer the support.)

We actively include adults with Down syndrome on our Leadership Team, who represent about half of our team.

Our programs are less structured to empower making positive choices and building independence. (Support is always available.)

We place an emphasis on balance in everything we do. For example:

  • Healthy options & treats

  • Movement & relaxation

  • Making responsible choices & having fun
